James, 33, who works in financial services and lives in South East London with his wife and their pet cat, admits he was never much good at managing his bills.
He occasionally used price comparison websites, but never felt they were showing him the best deals out there. And he didn’t want to spend hours of his free time researching the best offers and providers.

Were you any good at managing your bills before Nous started doing it for you?
Definitely not. I’m probably a bit lazy by nature, so it was partly procrastination that stopped me from doing it. I was never really one of those people who kept on top of those things. That’s the reason I love the Nous service, it makes it so easy.
Have you ever had a bad experience with a provider?
Our electricity provider was one of the ones which went bust, and it was just a disaster. We had all sorts of problems with them. I ended up having to go to the ombudsman because they’d misregistered us, and were trying to charge us many thousands of pounds.
When we finally got that resolved, which took a good year, I was looking to get rid of that provider, but I didn’t really know where to start. I came across Nous in a news article and started reading about the company, and thought it sounded great and signed up. Ever since then you guys have run that stuff for me.
What would you say are the key benefits of getting Nous to sort your bills for you?
It’s super easy – it’s like having your own personal assistant who can look after your bills for you and help you with the switch. Getting updates in the app and on WhatsApp couldn’t be simpler. Honestly it’s glorious!
The time I’ve saved is the number one thing for me. I lack the drive to actually look at my own bills and create a spreadsheet. You know that the job of sorting your bills needs to be done, and you know that you can save money, and you know that you're not being efficient or optimal by just sticking with the same provider.
Having Nous makes you feel more comfortable that actually you aren't just wasting money – and you don't spend loads of time doing it.
We’re moving house soon, so there’s going to be quite a lot of money needed for home renovations.
